The Big Top - Luna Park

Updated: Sep 10, 2018

The iconic, vintage-vibed harbour-side venue.

Everything you need to know before your big night out at the Big Top

Located in Sydney's world famous Luna Park, the Big Top is a vintage themed, accessible venue. With multiple set up modes, a capacity of roughly 2,950 people, a great atmosphere and in close proximity to countless restaurant and food spots (like the bar just outside), the Big Top is a perfect place to turn your concert or gig into a night out.

The Details

The Basics

Venue type: Music and comedy/ performance.

Seating options: In some modes (Circus, town hall theatre, combo, custom and the combat sports modes) reserved seating is offered. This is not the case for the general admission mode which is entirely general admission (stood up).

Overall cost: $$ / $$$

Wheelchair accessibility: The Big Top offers tickets that are wheelchair accessible.

More information and ticket booking services are available at the Luna Park ticket box via the 1300 BIG TOP (1300 244 867) phone number.

ATM Accessibility: There are plenty of ATM's dotted around Luna Park so you're never far from one.

General vibe: A big room really but pretty cosy, great acoustics

Overall child friendliness: The Big Top isn't an overly child friendly venue due to the strict rules regarding who can actually attend certain shows but the venue itself is relatively friendly due to its smaller size, ease of access and frequency of 'kids shows'.

Getting there

As the Big Top is right in the middle of Luna Park, it's super accessible from all directions.

Trains

The Big Top is a 3 minute down hill walk from the Milsons point train station. Trains leave from Central, Town hall and Wynyard heading towards Milsons point every 5 minutes during peak hour and about every 20 minutes on regular scheduling.

Milsons Point Station can be found on both the ‘Northern Line’ and ‘North Shore/ Western Line’.

Most trains heading into the city also stop here.

Buses

Many North Shore bus routes pass the nearby North Sydney Station and/or terminate at Milsons Point.

269, M20 and M40 are your best bets from the city with more than 20 buses crossing the bridge regularly from either direction.

Ferries

F3 and F4 Ferries regularly alight at Milson's Point Wharf (right in front of the Luna Park face) from Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.
